The India Gate located in the centre of New Delhi was made by Edwin Lutyens. A national monument of India, it is one of the largest war memorials. It commemorates the 90,000 martyrs of the British Indian Army. Following India's independence, India Gate has become the site of the Indian Army's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, known as the Amar JawanJyoti (Immortal Soldier).
