Spread over 100 acres, this garden was created in the 17th century by architect Nawab Fidai Khan, foster brother of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The complex, beautifully illuminated, is laid over 7 terraces and houses a Rajasthani-Mughal style palace, open-air museum, temple complex and a zoo.

It is a unique museum, perhaps the first of it's kind in the country, which exhibits the architectural history of the making of Chandigarh. The objective of the museum is to document and display the sequential planning and architectural development of Chandigarh, from it's inception to the present.

Established in the form of an open-air exhibition hall, the garden houses sculptures made of dicarded waste materials like frames, mudguards, forks, handle bars, metal wires, play marbles, porcelain, auto parts, broken bangles and more.
