Pride Month at The Lalit

The Pride Month stands for acceptance. It stands for being proud of your roots irrespective of sexual orientation. It is the time of the year when the world unites in rainbow colours to lend support to the LGBTQ movement.

This movement, which has become a rage today, has its roots in 1969 with the Stonewall Inn incident in New York City.

Today, the LGBTQ community has grown in strength and become vocal about their rights. It might come as a surprise to many, but it is this marginalised section of society that holds the key to India’s economic growth. The LGBTQ community commands the power of the pink money. Described as the purchasing power of the gay community, it contributes significantly to the developed economies.

With the Pride Month upon us, we at The LaLiT have taken various initiatives to educate the masses about the rights and tribulations of the LGBTQ community. We have created special corners to signify the importance of the Pride Month. These corners boast of selfie booths, rainbow cakes and our popular gender agnostic mascot, Elphie; along with placards that read #PrideMonth #PureLove and #Noto377

While, all this effort brings light to the cause, it is also important to do something lasting. For this reason, we initiated the campaign #PureLove and continue to host sensitisation training for all its employees.

The Executive Director of the Group, Mr Keshav Suri, has been at the forefront of this all-inclusive revolution at The LaLiT. On the occasion of the Pride Month, he said, “Let us all understand the need to be inclusive and adapt it. These occasions should not end up being one time efforts. But, they should make us realise as humans, the need to accept and let everyone live as they please. Let us all believe in and spread #PureLove”.
