Also known as “Gulab Bhavan” the over 100 year old palace was converted into a hotel in 1954. The Grand Palace, became the true jewel of the East. The political strife in the eighties led to difficult times for the hotel and In February 1990, it stopped operations.
The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group took over a paradise lost and with loving restorations reopened it as The LaLiT Grand Palace Srinagar in 1998.
