Highly respected and widely regarded for her astute leadership by her peers and the corporate community alike, Mrs Jyotsna Suri took on the mantle of Chairperson & Managing Director of Bharat Hotels Ltd in 2006 - prior to which she was the Joint Managing Director of the company. She has carved a unique niche for herself, applauded not only for her skillful leadership of the company but also for her commitment towards enhancing and promoting the Indian tourism product and championing the cause of the Industry, both within the country as well as overseas.

On November 19, 2008 she charted a path breaking and highly successful brand change for the company. Today, under The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, all its luxury hotels are operated under ‘THE LALIT’ banner – as a tribute to the company’s Founder Chairman Mr Lalit Suri. Bharat Hotels had earlier operated its hotels under ‘The Grand’ name.

The Group is said to be India’s fastest growing Hotel Chain – offering 17 five star luxury hotels with seven hotels in operation and ten under restoration/development. On taking over the stewardship of the company, after the untimely demise of Founder Chairman Mr Lalit Suri – she has ensured the rapid completion of the seven hotel projects under restoration/development and has plans to announce at least five new hotels. She has ensured the completion of the ‘holistic makeover’ of the group’s flagship hotel in New Delhi, besides ensuring the smooth and immensely successful functioning of the seven operating hotels – all of which are posting remarkable levels of profitability and guest satisfaction.

She has also taken the group international – with the announcement of The Lalit Grand Fort Dubai, a hotel being developed with Nakheel, the world’s largest privately held real estate developer and just a new hotel in Thailand, The Lalit Grand Resort & Spa Koh Samui.

Jyotsna Suri is the only Indian member of the International Executive Committee of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and Chairperson of FICCI Tourism Committee (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), besides being involved with various other tourism bodies. Under her direction, in 2008, FICCI introduced ‘The Great India Travel Bazaar – which has been greatly appreciated by buyers and sellers alike. This has now become a keenly awaited event in the annual calendar of such business interactions.

A multifaceted personality, Jyotsna Suri is known for her huge patronage of art in India – be it performing or visual. In fact it is to her credit that the Art Junction art gallery is operated – which promotes the cause of the young, upcoming and deserving artists.

Further, her work day does not conclude till she has enquired about the various initiatives and charities, that she is involved with. She is a key member of the governing committees in a wide spectrum of organizations – THE SUBROS EDUCATION SOCIETY (which operates The Step by Step Schools); SAVERA (which is doing stellar work for the underprivileged), 24/7 Women’s Security (focused on women safety and security), VRIDHA (an organization for the elder citizens), SEEDS (which provides skills training and education for the needy) and many more.. She also finances rehabilitation programmes for the blind school; The Spastic Society, The girl child …..

She firmly believes that ‘teach them young’ is a better way to ensure a bright future. Towards this cause, she has started The LALIT SURI JUNIOR GOLF COACHING PROGRAMME – which holds camps in key Indian cities, with the view to not only promote the sport, but encourage talent.

Her family and most importantly her grandchildren give her a lot of joy. She has three married daughters and an unmarried son.

Born on July 20, 1952, she is an alumni of the famous Lawrence School, Sanawar and graduated in English honours from Miranda House College, Delhi University.
